A Brief History of the Great War

During the Great Ignorance before the monsters and Dark Lords invaded, man was very peaceful, not waging war against one another, and the very idea of law enforcement was unheard of.

It is no wonder that the Dark Lords were able to take over so quickly, for the race of men were totally unprepared offering no resistance. Only the Elves resisted. But their numbers were too small to stop the massive onslaught, almost all of the Elves were killed, and those that lived, served out their unending lives as slaves along side the humans.

Once the humans had all been enslaved, they were taken to the home of the Dark Lords, the Dead Mountains, and divided up to the nine lords. Some of the Lords allowed the humans to live in their own villages, but inflicted a heavy tax on them. Others were not so lucky, they were put to work on plantations and mines, while others graced the tables of the more vicious Lords as food.

This treatment lasted for several hundred years, with each generation of Dark Lords becoming more and more evil, while the humans became more oppressed, with all hope seeming to be gone.

Then one day, a young boy about 17, discovered the cavern of records, and found that the Dark Lords and monsters were not the only ones who could use weapons of war, and that his people had once been great craftsmen creating grand works of art.

Armed with this knowledge, he started to create great weapons, Swords, Axes, Spears, and Daggers. With these he freed his village and with a small band started to liberate the surrounding villages. With little resistance the small group grew until upwards of 300,000 people had been rescued. They then retreated to the Cavern of records and there, the young boy set about training the best suited to take charge over the people and in the creation of an army.

Fueled by their long suppressed anger, the New Free Army learned fast, and so when the Dark Horde attacked, they found not a weak and scared group, but a determined and skilled army that would stop at nothing to destroy all of them. Driven back the Horde attacked again, but once again found a fierce army armed with the young boy's weapons, who was then known as the Great Forger.

Over the next months, several dozen heroes both men and women, rose up and led their armies to great victory against the most hated foe. The Great War raged for nearly 12 years until things came to a head at the citadels in the Dead Mountains in a battle that the world had never seen before, finally ending in the death or severe wounding of 700,000 brave warriors, and the destruction of the Dark Lords.

Soon after the humans set about rebuilding their world, a new government was established and hundreds of new cities formed filled with free and happy men and women, with those cities, new industries were created to provide jobs and money.

10 years later the last touches to the Archives of War where finished, and filled with the weapons of the Greatest Heroes and the Darkest Lords, as a reminder of the cost of war and freedom and that the race of men would never be taken unaware.
